Why Film?
The Meaning behind Film & LaFleur Photography
Photography has been a part of my family’s story for three generations. For me, preserving memories has never been just about taking beautiful photographs. It’s about creating something that will outlive the moment itself. What also makes it so special is I use the same cameras that my grandfather used for our own heirloom family portraits and to photograph other family’s wedding days and special moments.
There’s something so special about film. The way it renders light, the depth of the colors, the grain, and the beautiful unpredictability of every frame. It feels nostalgic without trying to recreate the past.
Digital photography allows me to document a wedding or session with intention and precision. Film gives me another way to preserve it; a little slower, a little more tactile, and with a character entirely on its own. I love the though of a photograph being passed down through generations, eventually becoming a part of someone else’s family history, just like it was for my own.
Because, someday, these wont be simply photographs of your family, they’ll be the photographs your children look through, the ones your grand children ask about, and the memories that help tell the story of your family’s history.
